Mission Statement of The Boston Virtuosi

Mission and Community

Music Director Paul Dulude and his colleagues founded Boston Virtuosi in 1997, commencing a musical journey that continues to enrich the lives of its musicians and audiences alike. Our mission is to bring to people of all ages the intimacy, power, and marvelous repertoire that is unique to a chamber orchestra.

Boston Virtuosi comprises some of Boston's finest musicians, and guest artists include world famous performers who share our vision of making music in a spirit of true collaboration and insight. The Boston Globe strongly commends Boston Virtuosi for originality of programming and for its passionate and lyrical performances. Each concert is centered around a theme that focuses on new and less well known works and composers. An important thread in Boston Virtuosi programming is our ongoing Visions of America series, in which we explore compositions written in and about America that speak from and to our shared identity.

In addition to four concerts in Faneuil Hall, Boston Virtuosi performs concerts in communities throughout greater Boston, including a series of concerts for high school students. Boston Virtuosi also sponsors an annual Young Artist Competition, the winner of which appears with Boston Virtuosi in Faneuil Hall. In collaboration with schools, select high school students will perform with Boston Virtuosi members in some of our community area concerts. Chamber ensembles from Boston Virtuosi also participate in local cultural affairs in a variety of ways, including lecture concerts for adult learning programs, benefit concerts, and partnerships with non-profit organizations.
